I have always had an affinity for stories. I lost myself in books of various genre, including fairy tales, and completely immersed myself in those worlds. With this letter I hope to bring through my relationship with stories so that you can get to know me just a little better.
I grew up in the capital city of Bangladesh, and from kindergarten through 12th grade I studied in one school. Unlike many other Bangladeshis of my age, I had the opportunity to go to a very good school while also having the means to study abroad. Having had such a fortunate upbringing, I struggled to find a purpose in pursuing my education. Naturally, I decided to take a year off to reflect on where my ambition really lied, and it helped immensely. On my time off I re-established my love for stories through exploring old books I grew up reading.
On the subject of fairy tales, dark, ominous, and otherworldy settings with an aura of mystery were my go-to. My favorites were always Alice in Wonderland, Hansel and Gretel and anything with a similar tone. I could always rely on a story to give me both an entertaining and educative time, which is why I stuck to them to this day, no matter the medium.
Even though I am pursuing Computer Science, I want to explore the art of storytelling further and hopefully this course will help.
Sincerely,
Muhammad Intisar Ahmad
